Black Sheep and Scapegoats
Sunday, February 23 at 7 pm
Safe Harbors’ Lobby at the Ritz
Safe Harbors is pleased to present Black Sheep and Scapegoats, a poignant and empowering dance theater production from Emotions Physical Theatre. Choreographed by EPT Artistic Director Shawn Rawls, Black Sheep and Scapegoats delves into the transformative power of Black self-love in a world that often attempts to define and diminish it. Through evocative movement and storytelling, Rawls explores the phases of this deeply personal and collective journey, asking questions that resonate universally: How do I see myself? What do I feel I deserve? What will I no longer tolerate? Join us for a moving exploration of what it means to live fully, unapologetically, and free.
“Black Sheep and Scapegoats is not just a dance; it’s a call to reimagine Blackness beyond historical trauma, embracing joy, resilience, and the unyielding beauty of self-love. The work celebrates the power of freedom as a state of mind and the role of perspective in shaping one’s reality.” – Shawn Rawls, Choreographer & Artistic Director, Emotions Physical Theatre
