Support Safe Harbors of the Hudson
Supporters of Safe Harbors play a vital role in our ability to provide safe and affordable housing for our neighbors; to bring accessible world class visual and performing arts to our community; to create a cultural and social hub in our city-center; to attract businesses to our main street, and to contribute to the revitalization of the City of Newburgh.
Over the past few years, Safe Harbors has been busy creating opportunities in our community. In 2014, Safe Harbors enhanced its artist studio space; and provided the build-out for the two commercial spaces that now include two successful Newburgh businesses, Grit Works and 2 Alices Coffee. In 2015, Safe Harbors purchased the vacant lot adjacent to the project and created an urban park—Safe Harbors Green. We are continuing to breathe new life into the Ritz Theater where Lucille Ball made her debut performance, a young Frank Sinatra performed with the Tommy Dorsey Band, Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Prima sang timeless tunes, and generations of memories were made!
With support from our community and government and private grants and funding, Safe Harbors has made great strides toward the full integration of the Ritz Theater into the community. A re-imagined Ritz Theater will feature a multi-faceted and flexible performing and visual arts space, and a venue for community celebrations and connection.
We need your help to continue to this momentum and make an impact in Newburgh!

Safe Harbors Green has created place; a place to strengthen connections among people and the community they share. A place that encourages walk-ability, connectivity and accessibility. An animated gathering place where people can meet, recreate and exchange ideas. A place for farmers markets, gardens, open air performances, festivals, public art and quiet spots to sit and contemplate.
