Newburgh, NY—Safe Harbors of the Hudson is pleased to announce it has been approved by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to receive a Grants for Arts Projects award of $20,000 in support of its Ann Street Gallery’s BIPOC Emerging Artist Fellowship. This grant is one of 1,251 Grants for Arts Projects awards totaling nearly $28.8 million that were announced by the NEA as part of its first round of fiscal year 2023 grants.

The Ann Street Gallery Emerging Fellowship Program aims to provide a supportive platform for experimental and substantive growth for emerging artists. The selected artists will form a cohort that will engage in workshops and site visits designed to expand their practices, develop their portfolios, resumes, and artist statements, and build their identities as professional artists. Fellows will visit local art institutions such as Storm King Art Center, Dia:Beacon, the Hessel Museum, Magazzino, among others to broaden exposure to arts in the Hudson Valley. The program will culminate with a self-organized collective group exhibition showcasing the Fellows’ work at Ann Street Gallery.
